Question: Do avent baby bottles contain bpa?
(Posted by: Dreamer on 2010-02-27 13:58:38)
I read a lot of hype about Avent baby bottles containing BPA. Then how come on the packaging it says they are BPA free? did they recently change this and are they safe to use? I& #039;m confused. thanks |

The Avent bottles from 2 years ago had BPA. Because of the BPA concerns of parents Avent changed the way they made the bottles to a BPA free bottle (2008). So yeah, they changed this recently and they 're safe to use. Here 's an interesting 2009 study by Harvard using cold drinks in BPA containers and showing how they still increase the BPA levels in urine in humans. So it 's good they changed them. We 're buying new bottles for my coming baby since our bottles have BPA. |

Actually, not all Avent bottles are now BPA-free. They no longer sell the old BPA bottles in North America, but they do still sell them in other parts of the world. Where are you? New bottles that are BPA-free are clearly labeled such. If you get used bottles, and don 't know where they came from, then it 's really hard to tell. They have a pretty good FAQ about all this on their website, linked below. |

They are safe to use now. Not everyone threw theirs out though, so if someone offered you some Avent bottles - you might want to pass on them. |

I am currently using Avent bottles for my 4 month old preemie. They are BPA free. I heard the same thing and asked his pediatrician about it. I beleive at one time, they were not BPA free, but since new regulations/ guidelines, they are conforming and are now BPA free. If the label says BPA free, then it has to be, otherwise there could be one heck of a lawsuit against Avent. Plus, it really does not make sense for a large, reputible company to falsely advertise. Hope this helps :) |
