Sterilizers for baby bottles. electric or microwave?

Question: Sterilizers for baby bottles. electric or microwave?

Hi, I am wondering which sterilizers you find better, I know electronic ones tend to be more expensive but are they any better than the ones you put into the microwave? Thanks

Our electric steam steriliser took up loads of surface space, got limescale on it all the time, was bulky, and made the kitchen damp from the steam. So we got a microwave one (both Avent brand BTW) and it 's a lot smaller, gets just as much stuff in, is about 3x quicker at sterilising, can be stored in microwave when not in use so tidy, and really simple to keep clean. They 're a much better idea in my opinion! Just check that the bottles you buy can be sterilised in this way.

I use a microwave steriliser. Im not sure where you are from, but mine was $20 from big w if you live in Australia. It has been brilliant. The only suggestion i have is to make sure your microwave doesnt overheat if you do alot of loads one after the other.

I just boiled my son bottles and pacifiers on the stove for five minutes. then if you clean the bottles in the dishwasher you only have to sterilize everything when you first use them.

I had a microwave one to start with, and was bought an electric one as a gift, to be honest there isn 't really much difference in either. We would have been happy with the microwave one, if we hadn 't been bought the electric one. The only difference is that the electric one holds 5 bottles while the microwave only 4 (tommie tippee).

I just boil them in a pot of water on the stove for 5 min. Why spend the extra money on MORE baby stuff that you don 't need? However, if I had to choose I would probably go with the electric one. Microwaves kinda scare me, and I hardly ever use mine. My microwave isn 't even a full-sized one, it is a little one, you know the one I have had since college, *lol*.

Honestly i wouldn 't waste your money on a sterilizer, just boil everything for like 5 min and be done with it. with my first one i wanted everything i saw for babies, but then you realize how much of a waste a lot of it is.

I bought an electric one and it was the biggest waste of money, i sold it on ebay and now use a big pot on the stove... you only need to sterilize bottles once when you get them and then hot soapy water is fine, that 's what I did and my 3 month old has never been sick and is formula fed...
