I would recommend a baby sling. I had a sling and a carrier and the sling lasted me a lot longer. As your baby grows, the carrier will start hurting your back. With a sling you have more options on how to carry your baby so that you can change the postion of the baby as they grown so your back doesn 't hurt. I reccomend the Moby Wrap (mobywrap.com). I tried several slings and found this one to work best. You have like 5 differnt ways to hold your baby with this wrap. As a newborn, you can put them in a kangaroo hold where they feel safe and secure and supports their neck. This is also good if you are breastfeeding. As they get older you can carry them in the front or on the side. I used mine until my little girl was a year and started walking. She loved it and I loved having her by my side all the time, without the back ache. My husband used the bjorn baby carrier until my daughter was 6 months old and then she was too heavy to carry up front for both of us. I think a sling is the best choice. More options and last longer. |

From what I 've heard, some babies prefer slings but a carrier is better for your back. I borrowed the Baby Bjorn from my cousin and liked it a lot. I was thinking of buying the Ergo carrier since it can go on the front or back and can therefore be utilized longer. |

If she cant hold her head up yet then get a sling. the carriers are for older babies who can support there heads |

For a little, little baby like that a wrap works best. I made my own by buying 6 yards of t-shirt material and cutting it in half the long way. Then I went to sleepywrap.com and watched their tutorial on how to use it. It is REALLY easy to use once you get the hang of it. I even nursed my son while he was in his. The material I bought was a dollar a yard and it made two six yard wraps, so I had two three dollar wraps! They cost about $40 if you buy one. I use a ring sling after they are about 6 months old and my three year old still rides in it. I did buy a baby carrier like the type that hang the baby in front of you and it KILLED my back! With the wrap and the ring sling there have been no problems! |

Ergo Carriers are great and can be used front or back. Regular slings hurt my back after awhile. |

My 7 wk old loves his sling... i use it everyday... either when im out grocery shopping or just home doing house work. he sits in a lil ball on my chest by my heart and loves every minutes of it.... im sure it reminds him of being in the womb. to me its a life saver. i have my hands free and can still carry him everywhere just the way he likes it. the only bad thing about it is hes going to out grow it because he is a big boy and im going to have to get a carrier eventually... i wish he would stay lil forever <3 we love our sling. |

Until 3 months old about my daughter did well in a front-carrier, but the design was bad and it hurt my back so then my husband carried her until 6 months. She is VERY small though. After she could sit up then I used a ring-sling I suppose, it 's like 50 years old, my mom had it with her kids, and you just rest their rump in the sling and support them with your hand around their back. It works well for hip-sling type position. :) (And obviously it 's held up wonderfully...) With this baby we decided to get the Ergo baby carrier. My husband indulged me basically because I told him that I wanted something better than the infantismo and read so many good things about the Ergo. It does front, back and hip-side position. The first day it came we went on a hike and put our 27 month, 25lb, daughter in it, back position. My husband was sure it would kill his back... he was surprised to find it was comfortable, he wasn 't off balance, it didn 't hurt his back or shoulders (he could feel it spread the weight around) and he loved it. He said that it was worth the money, it was comfortable and he could see using it for a lot longer than the old one we had. :) So at 25lbs it was comfortable. We 'll see how it goes as she gets older, if she ever gets a turn in it instead of the baby. :P So that 's my experience. We had tried back-packs with frames and padding even and that just wasn 't comfortable, was painful, and an annoyance. The Ergo just... was so simple and nice. And my daughter thought it was hilarious that she had a daddy-horse to ride. |

My daughter was the same, she always wanted to be close to me. i bought a sling but never learned to use it properly so it has been under the bed gathering dust! looking back i think my daughter would have really benefited from being physically closer to me so if you do buy a sling/ carrier please to persevere! i personally would advise a sling over a carrier, as you have more flexibility and baby can be closer to you as opposed to a carrier. i also think the baby will be more comfortable in a sling. good luck with whatever you decide to do xxx |
