Best baby carrier/wrap?

Question: Best baby carrier/wrap?

(Posted by: Marie-Mom to Baby Oliver on 2010-05-25 13:12:27)

I have a Babyhawk Mei- Tai which I really like but I find it really hard to get on and off myself. I& #039;m looking for a carrier that I can use for my three month old (he& #039;s about 15lbs). Any suggestions? Well Tracy I& #039;m glad you had such an easy time with your babyhawk. However, since you no nothing about how tall or short I am or how my body is built I think you should reserve your judgment for someone else!

I use the Moby wrap. Tocay I washed the dishes, moped, washed bottles, swept, vacuumed, and ate lunch. She was a happy girl and even took a nap. :) We have 2, one in the car, one in the house.

Hello! Our nearly 5-month-old is 18.5 lbs, and we 've been carrying her in the Moby Wrap since birth (9+ lbs). We 've recently acquired a Little Star Sling (starslings.com/ ) which is very easy when you 're out or on your own.

With my son, we got a front carrier and because of the straps in killed my back, which is similar to the babyhawk. I really love my cuddly wrap. It 's basically an organic moby wrap. No back pains, even with my son now being 23 pounds. Multiple ways you can carry baby for different ages. Great for doing chores around the house and comforting baby at the same time. And my all time favourite reason for moby??? I can put my newborn in it and nurse.

I like a ring sling. All mine are home made, but you can find a lot on Ebay for cheap.

I 've always liked the BabyBjorn and found it really easy to get on and off and the baby in and out of on my own. Both boys loved being in the Bjorn when they were little, and would get very excited when they saw me putting it in. I 've heard a lot of great things about the Ergo as well but it 's very expensive. If you prefer sling style carriers - we also had a Hotslings carrier. I liked using that when the younger one was little, and the newer ones they have now are adjustable so I 'm sure they are even better.

If you think a mei tai is hard to get on and off, then a wrap is definately not for you. Have you gone to a babywearing class or looked for a teacher in your area? A mei tai is really easy to get on, so I 'm very surprised to see you have trouble. I 'm not very co-ordinated, LOL, and I can do it :) A mei tai is also the most versatile and longest lasting. Sure, a pouch is super easy to get on, but by 22lb, most moms use it for just quick carries. The Babyhawk can last you till the baby is 40lb. I 'd search on thebabywearer.com for a local teacher :) Edit---I NEVER said I have a Babyhawk, LOL. I made all my carriers. I am short and busty and fluffy. I have arthritis in my neck and pelvis. I have limited motion in my neck, but I learned how to use a mei tai from watching videos on YouTube. Even back carries. Oh, and I have sensory processing dysfunction and am seriously challenged when it comes to proprioceptive awareness. I 'm the lady in aerobics who puts her left arm up while the instructor puts her right arm up, LOL!!!! You should see me try to put on a coat, or a backpack. My point is (and I was NOT being judgemental, just surprised) that with a good instructor, a mei tai is one of the easiest and versatile carriers to use and it 's worth trying to figure out what the trouble is. There is a GREAT babywearing group on Yahoo Groups. And, the forums at thebabywearer.com are awesome too. Babywearing was the best thing I ever did as a parent, even though I looked like a total goof trying, LOL!!

I use a Munchkin Jellybean sling, and I like it very much. It 's easy enough to put on that I can even do it while holding my baby.

I would suggest you buy the Baby Bjorn Original Baby Carrier. Had use this for my 1moth old baby and it works so well for him. Plus it has a back support to help you not feel too much weight of the baby. Here 's a link where you can read its specs. betterbabydeals.com.au/ index.php?main_page= product_info &products_id= 35 &zenid= a1250a66f172b442f2c47475a621b2cb
