Question: When did you move up from the baby carrier car seat to the sitting up one?

The latest recommendation is that the child be rear facing for at least 2 years. I don't think it matters what the seat is as long as it is designed for rear facing and the correct weight.

We never used an infant carrier car seat. We always used a convertible seat form day one. A Evenflo Triumph 65 or the First Years True Fit both are great for small babies, and recline for them. Later, you can put these seats more upright as baby can sit and doesn't like reclining so much in the car seat. Our #3 is 22 months rear facing, 32 inches and 26 pounds. #2 stayed rear facing to to age 4, he never maxed out the seat limit for rear facing. My godson moved to a rear facing convertible sometime around 6-7 months and 20 pounds.
