I am 9 months pregnant and i heard that i should was all my baby cloths before my baby gets here?

Question: I am 9 months pregnant and i heard that i should was all my baby cloths before my baby gets here?

They said all of them should be washed first even if they are brand new but she couldn& #039;t tell me why i was supposed to wash them first. Has anyone else heard of this and is it a good idea or just a waist of laundry soap i will most definitely need after my daughter is born?

I was told the same thing. I washed all the onesies, blankets, crib sheets, socks and bodysuits. However, i didnt wash the dress-up outfits i 'm afraid to ruin them. the reason to wash them is the clothes get softer after washing, also think about how many hands have been on the clothes before you got to them. i mean i too check for softness and all before i buy something for my baby girl so yeah. and also use Dreft detergent, its #1doc recommended baby detergent and it has a nice scent. its kind of pricey but it should last..

Yes, they should be washed, a good "baby detergent " with no allergens in it would be Dreft, or Drift not sure of the exact spelling. I used it to wash all my daughters baby clothes about 2 weeks before she was born.

Its usually a good idea so they will have something to wear home

The only reason to wash them because it has starch on them cloths to make them look crisp and this is possible due to mild starch on it. So just soak in clean luke warm water, rinse and dry it. it will be ready to wear for a new born baby.

Sounds like someones fear or germs. Or it could from someone that even if it is "new " it came from a used clothes store.

Yes you should wash the outfits you plan on putting on her because baby 's skins are very sensitive.

It 's a good idea to wash new or used baby clothes before your baby wears them. It 's not for no reason. Brand new clothes may irritate your babies skin, and not to mention may shrink a little making them too small or fit just right. There is no telling what your baby is allergic to (if anything) so it 's a good idea to wash all the baby 's clothes in a baby detergent. This will save them from breaking out in horrible painful rashes if they happen to have some type of allergies. Save your baby the suffering and do it just incase.

You don 't have to...I just washed our daughter 's in a scent free detergent like tide clear and free. She never had a reaction. After about 2 months you can actually use your regular detergent if there are no reactions. Our daughter was fine after that. A lot of time it 's just marketing usually to sell another product and it 's really the same detergent. Crazy, but true!!!! There were a few pieces of clothing that I had put on her without washing and never had an issue. Just depends on the baby...

I 've been told to wash all my baby clothes preferably with a mild detergent because a baby 's skin is sensitive. i am nine months as well and i washed and packed all the clothes for my baby boy to use at the hospital.

I did just to be sure, the baby could have a sensitivity to something on the clothes. It 's better to be safe than sorry. It 's nothing do with germs. I bought a bottle of Purex baby soft. it 's got a nice light smell and is hypoallergenic so the bay shouldn 't have a reaction. My husband and I both have a sensitvity to laundry detergent and can only use purex so it 's not unreasonable for us to be weary for our baby.

You should wash all the baby clothes you have before you put them on your child, they have dyes in them and it is not good for them to be put on such sensitive skin without being washed also they have a bit of a strong smell to them. For now I would just wash the 0-3 months things and go from there it is much nicer to wash them ahead of time so that your not having to do it once you baby gets here, trust me your going to be lucky finding time to wash your hair let alone a bunch of clothes and they go through allot of clothes just in one day with the spitting up and if a diaper leaks or something. The best soap is called Dreft no it is not cheap but it is the best for babies and do not use dyer sheets either unless they are from the same brand. Other brands have chemicals and fragrances that can irritate the baby 's skin. I wash everything before my little one gets here clothes, bedding, blankets, bouncer and swing padding as well.

Its a good idea to wash them. Clothes shrink in the wash, that way they will all have shrinken already.

You should wash them. They have been stored with chemicals and such on them plus(for the germ conscious) there are quite a few people that touch them prior to you buying them. I wouldn 't wash ALL of them right now in case you need to return items but make sure a few NB and a few 0-3 outfits are washed and ready to go. Then once you see how baby is growing continue to wash other items from there.

Of course you should wash the baby 's clothes before they are worn. Don 't you wash your own clothes after you buy them at the store? Do you know how many people have touched them? Not only in the store but in the factory where they are made and during the shipping process, etc? That 's nasty not to wash clothes before you wear them.
