Actually, it is...My brother 's little boy is 2 1/ 2, and his teeth are beginning to get cavities from drinking from the cup. The contents like juice, etc. that have sugar saturate only on the part of the teeth that the juice hits when it comes out of the cup, so it easily causes cavities and could effect the way his/ her teeth grow. I would suggest that you start your kid on a regular drinking glass. |

No not at all, think of the spills you are preventing by letting him use the sippy cup. If it concerns you, let him have a small cup occasionaly with just a little bit of his drink in it, so he can practice using a big cup. I would sit there with your child until they finish the drink though, or you 'll be cleaning it up later. Also, after reading the comment above mine, I seriously doubt that sippy cups cause cavities and tooth problems. It 's not the cup, it 's the contents of the cup. As long as you limit the sugary drinks and brush your child 's teeth twice a day, that should be fine. My daughter has absolutely no cavities or tooth issues. |

I don 't think so! I think people put so much emphasis on how they shouldn 't drink out of sippy cups, and i still don 't understand why? You don 't want your kid spilling all over him or herself never mind the carpet right? I don 't think there is anything wrong with them! Plus you don 't want then breaking glass! Good Luck! |

The sip cup should be used until around age four. i wouldnt advise you use it at nap or bedtime though |

No it 's not bad. Some kids just aren 't ready for a real cup at that age.. My 3 year old was drinking out of sippies till her third birthday pretty much. She just wasn 't careful enough for a real one. Now she does great with a real cup! Don 't worry about it. Let your child drink out of it till he/ she is ready for the cup. |

I think sippy cups are a life savor. I wish my 11 and 9 year olds still drank form them sometimes.( less mess.) kidding aside...ask your Dr. about it and then look at introducing a cup that has a straw instead of a sippy lid. tupperware has cups that you add the lid and place a straw in...then you can take off the lid and use as a regular cup later on. |

No matter how you drink it, as long as you enjoy doing it. For me, i still drink milk thru breastfeed, of course, with different woman |

My daughter is 2 and a half and still drink from the sippy cup, my parents keep telling me to get her off the sippy cup and on to a regular cup...i do give her a regular cup occasionally, but shes always putting her hands in it or spilling on accident and even on purpose and she puts food and paper towels and baby wipes in the cup full of whatever i gave her drink, so i think she is just not ready for the regular cup yet! she doesn 't have the sippy cup all day long, but right now id rather just give her the sippy cups to drink out of, less of a mess! |

As long as he does not have to carry it around with him all day (unless he just has water in it) that is TOTALLY normal. You do not want a 2 year old drinking from a regular cup or you will have a MESS. 2 year olds like to dump. I have a daycare, and I have kids that are 4 and still use a sippy, however they are good at drinking from a open faced cup as well. |

I say sippy cups for walking around, but use "grown up cups " at mealtimes to get them used to it. |

Well my son is 2 and 1/ 2 and he drinks mostly out of cups but we still have sippys he just doesnt use them as much. If this bothers u i know there are sippy cups that have straws and those are better for the muscles in there mouth. I know because my son is having speech problems and they recomended that he start drinking out of straw cups these cups are like sippys with lids and all they just have straws. |

The cup isn 't bad...but if he 's drinking sweet drinks or juices it could cause cavities. Good luck! blogs.chron.com/ mamadrama/ |

If your child ruined your furniture or your carpet that would be bad drinking from a sippy cup is normal at this age and for a couple more years as long as its not a bottle or pacifier all is well |

Kids are too young yet at 2 to hold cups steadily without spilling constantly. If you want them to only drink at a table, in your constant guidance then I guess go for trying the regular cup, but I really don 't think a 2 year old has the coordination though. |

No it isn 't bad that your two year old still drinks from a sippie cup. Just if you go out in public, or you 're at dinner have him/ her drink out of a big boy/ girl cup. The thing is you don 't want your child to drink from it too long, because my dad let me drink from when I was a little baby till I was seven/ eight years old. Since I drank from it for such a long time--I still get the urge to drink from one and I 'm too too too too too old to drink from one now. But you can also have your child drink from one of those plastic bike bottles, they are more grown up. And you can always work his/ her way up: start with the plastic bike bottles, and then go up to those kool plastic cups with like winnie the pooh, barbie, or spiderman pictures on them, after that use the normal cups for "grown ups ". Good luck! You can do it! ha ha Cheers and beers, Krista |

It fine all kids dev. at different ages. SO as long as they are drinking from a cup and potty trained by kindergarten it really doesn 't matter. |
