(Posted by: OrionMomof3 on 2009-08-12 07:34:23)
I personally never have but I found a great Jenny Lind changing table for 20 bucks! Has any ladies ever found great deals? Do you repaint them or keep them the same...I know now a days you have to be tight with money.. yea i realize that lol the finish is like an oak color and is in great shape. I found it on craiglist. I like those! Yes I am buying it this weekend if all goes well....i pray I get them because i have like 7 weeks left...only around three till im full term lol |

There are some things that you can buy as used items. Such things as changing tables, cribs (make sure it is an updated safety regulated crib), blankets, clothes, etc. But things like mattresses, and car seats are a big no-no if you want to get them used. You never know for sure if that car seat was involved in some sort of accident and has altered the car seat in anyway. Also the mattress can have pressure points on it and affect baby in some way. But anything else would be fine to purchase used. Just remember to clean and sanitize anything you buy used. You can find some great deals on Craigslist.com. Just also remember to be careful when purchasing things from an online private seller. People are sick now an days! |

Almost all of my furniture is second hand. The bed was my husbands and we are having parts of it sanded down and then I am going to bleach it as best as I can then we are going to paint it white (it is white right now just a new coat) Our changing table is from a friends who is not having anymore we are not doing anything to that. And the dresser is my dad 's from when we was a baby! It will get a fresh coat of white paint as well. :P I think you can repaint to match whatever you are doing with the nursery. Just remember that once you paint a wood it is always going to be painted. |

Hello there girlie! Yes, Hubby and I did buy second-hand furniture for our little one. :-) We bought $2500 worth of baby furniture for $822 and are RAPT! A beautiful cot, set of draws with change-table section on top and bookcase, in a very respected Australian brand too! Here is a photo of our furniture when we first set it up in our bedroom. The TV of course won 't be there for when Bub arrives! Until we buy, Bub is in our room with us. s87.photobucket.com/ albums/ k137/ ellieRAfan/ Baby%20Furniture-Bedding/ ?action= view ¤t= P1110533.jpg No need to re-paint as I LOVE this heritage stain - actually it is my favourite colour stain! Good luck with your buying! Did you get the change table in the end? X |

Yeah! lol! Almost all of our things are new! I found a lovely dreser/ night stand/ small 2 drawer dresser and a cubbie stand thing that i use as a changing table for now!! They were all in perfect condition so I left them alone. I 'm not very handy/ crafty so I personally wouldn 't buy something that needed retouching and stuff because i won 't know how to do it :) On craigslist you can find perfect changing tables for 20!! Happy buying! |
