Question: Thank you cards for baby gifts?
(Posted by: poprocks_and_coke on 2009-08-14 20:33:32)
Are you supposed to send out thank you cards for the gifts people brought to the hospital or to the house when they came to see the new baby? Would it be rude not to? |

I think it would be rude not to. That being said, I was so freaking tired after I had my son I did not feel like going to get the cards or filling them out. It took me a few weeks but what I did was get his birth announcements ordered online & when they came, I wrote the thank-you on the back of the picture & sent them out. Killed two birds w/ one stone. |

You can if you want. people understand that you are very busy with the new baby. you can wait and send out photos with your thank yous. that way you won 't feel rude and the givers will enjoy an update! i used to take a pic of my baby dressed in or with whatever the gift was and just email a quick thanks from baby! |

I definately would (and always have actually). I think its a nice touch and people really appreciate you going that extra mile What i did with my third is combine a thank you note with his birth announcement so it got sent to everyone that did or did not give a gift, but the ones that did got a little message in there too I got them at a place called 'kennys cardiology ', its bascially a card and gift shop. They were the photo cards where you slip a photo of baby in the front and then inside i wrote Thank you for your kind thoughts, generous gifts and well wishes for our new baby. With love from the 'xxxxxx ' family xo. You can add something a little more personal for different people but that is a good generic phrase to write and then had his... Name: Date: Time: Weight: Length: Everyone really liked them. Hope that helps! |

I didn 't get to all of mine. Gifts started to trickle in and since I was caring for my little one, I lost track of who sent what. I feel terrible for not sending TY 's, but I 'm sure people understand how tough it is those first few weeks. I don 't mind if I give someone a gift and they don 't send a TY. I know they appreciate the gift without sending me a card. |
