Baby Gift

Question: What are some good baby gifts to give from a group?

My college track and field coach is inviting my event group over for dinner. His wife is pregnant with a girl due in January. There& #039;s ten of us (throws squad) that are invited to dinner. We want to get a few gifts for the baby from our group. They already have a two year old son so they have a lot of the baby essentials. He& #039;s a great coach, but we& #039;re a bunch of poor college students so we& #039;ve got a limited budget. Even though this isn& #039;t original, I& #039;m thinking of getting baby clothes and maybe a stuffed bear or something for the campus store. When we had a shower for their son, we also gave them a gift certificate to a nearby restaurant. A nice outing and helps make things easier at least for that day. So we& #039;d get them another gift certificate as well. How do these gifts sound? Do you have any suggestions? We& #039;re not doing any games or anything so it& #039;s not really a shower, just a dinner plus a few gifts. Thanks for your help!

Baby clothes are great, but diapers are also a helpful gift. They can get costly and since there are 10 of you, you could go to Sam 's or Costco 's and get a couple of economy sized boxes of diapers and maybe even baby wipes (the diapers are about $40, but for a size 1, you get about 200 diapers/ box and a big box of baby wipes is about $15)

Diapers are helpful. Does anyone sew? Making swaddle blankets 42x42 inches is an excellent gift as they dont sell them that large and are very much used by new parents. If you do this, get it in a flannell. I think the gift certificate is really nice. I would not get clothes, any other blanket, or the teddy bear as these are common gifts and usually not as used as say diapers.
