How to price baby items for garage sales?

Question: How to price baby items for garage sales?

(Posted by: JasminesMommy on 2009-05-25 16:10:46)

I am selling all my baby girl items. My husband and I are having a girl next.. so all the old baby girl stuff we are selling.. since my daughter no longer needs them. we have the Graco Passage travel system paid $180 for it is this one http:/ / www.walmart.com/ catalog/ product.do?product_id=5459216 pratically brand new, used the stroller maybe for 6 months all together.. car seat excellent condition.. we also have the graco swing again, she used this for maybe a month.. two different bouncers that sing and vibrate. huge lot of clothes, bath towels, wash clothes, tons of shoes, baby rattles.. ect... please help!! this will be my first garage sale.. Would like to get a good return.. but I don& #039;t want to over price and no one buys either... also, for the clothes would you put them in outfits? or just seperates.. would you put them all in a box according to size, or pants and shirts.. or just hang everything that I can up, like maybe the better more expensive items or just the outfits.. socks and wash clothes put them in a lot, like 5 for fifty cents... or just let them pick whatever.. uhg.. i dunno. ooppss. i mean having a BOY next.. so we need to get rid of the GIRL items

Tag them at a price u think is suitable, then write OBO (or best offer), if someones offer is too low, tell them "sorry, i don 't think i can do that "

For the carseat and stroller Id say if you do it in a combo then 80 bucks OBO separately carseat could go for 25-30 and stroller 30-40. Bouncers could go for 15 or less. Remember people are looking for bargains. Clothes, towels, shoes Id price then at 1.00-2.00 depending on wear and tear. Shoes could be 3 dollars. If you want to put the clothes in an outfit you could charge a bit more or leave them out on a table for others to match up. Usually people will ntoice if they go together. You could also bundle clothes and socks together.

25% or 10% of original or retail as new price is my rule. I can go to Goodwill,Salvation Army or any number of charitable stores and get a tax write off for donating the stuff that does not sell. I can also get an idea of how much it costs to purchase there and in the doing help a homeless veteran or destitute soul and find a reasonable medium that works. he stuff that does not sell on the weekend or day of the sale, post it on the free section of craigslist or donate to a charity of your choosing.

Put things in different boxes for different sizes for the less decent stuff and maybe write on the boxes - 3 for $10 or something... and then the price per item ono... (or nearest offer) then hang the decent stuff up and tag it - use cardboard from an old cereal box, hole punch the top (one hole) and thread an elastic band through it - write the price and ono again.. why dont u keep some of the nicer bits for ur next baby girl - dont wanna go wasting money if u have some nice clothes already!

The travel set all for $80 or separate for $30 each. The swing I 'd say $15 or $20. Bouncers for $20. I usually match outfits and keep sets together. I would hang up as much clothes as I could. Things are easier to look through if they are not in piles. I usually sale my nice outfits for $3 or $4 dollars. Shoes can for for $2 or $3 or up if they have barley been worn which is usually the case. I would put all the socks and wash clothes in boxes and say 5 for .50 cents. That sounds like a bargains. I would just price everything at the max that you would pay. Obviously some things are gonna be worth more. Nice name brand clothes and shoes would be worth more then say wal-mart and other brands. People are looking for a deal and you could always haggle.

I just had a garage sale, and sold a bunch of my daughters old clothes. I put them in bins by size. I sold pants and tops for 50 cents each, and one piece outfits for 75 cents each. For nicer outfits, I had them in a gallon sized clear bag labeled with the brand and size of the outfits. Many of the outfits were either nice Gap ones, Gymboree, Janie and Jack, Hanna Anderson. I priced them between 2.50 - 7.00 per outfit. The pricer outfits usually had at least 3-4 pieces to them. Coats I sold for $3.00 - $10.00. I sold shoes between $.50 (infant crib shoes, cheapie ones) to $6.00 for barely used Pedipeds. Most small toys I did for .10 - .75 each. I would put the socks and washclothes in a lot like you said. I was WIPED OUT within a few hours!! Make sure you advertise (for free!) on craiglist. I listed exactly what I had in terms of kid items, and had people waiting in my driveway up to an hour before I opened!!

Hi, I 've shopped for baby items at garage sales quite a bit, over the past several years, and this is what I 'm usually willing to pay: Sleepers: $1 Shirts: .50 Pants: .50 - $1 2-pc pajama sets: $1 - $2 Bath towels: .50 shoes: $1 - $2 Jackets: $1 - $2 Winter coats: up to $4 Snow suits: up to $5 small toys: .50 Price also depends on condition and brand. As far as setting up your sale... hang up any outfits, dresses and jackets. Display the separate items on tables, sorted out by size. People generally don 't like to dig through boxes. I 'm not sure what to tell you about the travel system, swing and bouncer. Garage sale shoppers usually are looking for really deep discounts on stuff. You might be better off trying to sell the bigger items on craigslist first. Craigslist items often sell for twice as much as they would at a garage sale. :)
