Your absolute necessities are a crib and mattress, an infant carseat, and a stroller. You may want a changing table, or you can get a changing pad to use on a dresser or countertop. You 'll need 4 or 5 crib sheets. A bunch of receiving blankets. A baby bathtub is useful, but you can always use the sink. You may want to register for a baby health kit that has useful items like nail clippers and a nasal aspirator, as well as a decent thermometer. There are lots of optional things you can put on your registry, like play yards, mobiles, play gyms, swings, bouncey seats. Its up to you which of these items you feel fit your lifestyle and your desires. You could also register your feeding supplies, a breast pump or bottles and nipples. In terms of clothes, buying everything new can cost a fortune and is really unnecessary since babies grow so quickly. Going on Ebay and buying bulk lots of nearly-new clothes saves a ton of money. |

You need to get a baby checklist. If you register at Babies r us they give you a list of essentials that you carry with you when registering.. besides that go online and get a checklist. I got my list online but after printing it out I am not sure what site it was. |

Well I know people tend to avoid registering for big ticket items because they don 't want to seem greedy but I will tell you now people get mad if they had planned to buy you something big (i.e. a stroller or a crib) and the option isn 't there. So make sure you have at least 2 things on there that are higher in price. Make sure you also include people on the other end of the spectrum: try to put on something even as simple as receiving blankets. At least there is something affordable for those who don 't have a lot of money then. I 'm just going to list some things that you 'll need/ want for the baby to give you an idea. crib (and don 't forget the crib matress...those things are seperate now! lol) stroller bassinet or playpen (maybe) Carseat clothes (don 't just register for newborn either. Think how fast they grow and register for anything you can use the 1st year. For showers I ALWAYS buy people baby clothes at the size of 6 months and up. everyone gets onesies. lol) bathtub highchair bouncy seat or swing crib linens change table diapers diaper genie (or some sort of disposal system) receiving blankets swaddlers sling/ baby carrier (the ones you wear on your chest) breast pump if you plan to breast feed feeding pillow glider/ rocking chair decor for the bedroom I could go on and on but honestly: when you are there with that scanning gun you 'll go bananas and scan everything. lol Just take your time, make sure you hit every aisle and you shouldn 't forget anything. |

I went through probrably 4-5 *checklists* ahem.... not very helpful though. I ended up buying a set of * medical essentails* and an extra Bottle of Tylenol and Mylicon, but I ended up liking Little Remedies 's Gripe Water. As far as clothes go, use common sense. If your babys going to be born when its cold, get as many Rompers fleece or not (theyre the whole body suits with the feet) and fleece sleep sacks. My daughter was glues to hers all winter. If your babys born in the summer, shorts, but buy sunscreen! Aveeno is exprnsive, but if you can spring 6-10$ for 1 bottle (its DOES last a while) its worth it. As far a diaper pails go, we dont need one. Just one of those covered ones work just as well, but heres a hint, but a couple of unfolded dryer sheets in the bottom before you put the baggie in. it helps alot! Bounders are not a must! One of the best is a swing that has removable toy trays. And buy alot of baby nail clippers. We bought about 10-15, and I only know where 3 are offhand. And definately buy pacifiers. Buy all different kinds. All babies are different, and as far as bottles go, i breast fed, and Nuk by Gerber was the best, so we bought Nuk Paci 's too. If you need any other advice, letme kno or im me @ shortycmlb. |
