(Posted by: curious on 2010-02-01 19:56:15)
I am 20 weeks exactly today. I already know the sex. [girl (: ] I am limited in money so maybe earlier would be better? I& #039;m not sure. This is my first, so...? We are preparing to paint the nursery and we have a crib and bassinet. But nothing else at all. Should I start buying more stuff soon? If so, what? and When? ps. im not sure if im going to have a baby shower. no one has offered..? |

First, congrats! This is an exciting time for you and your loved ones. if i were you, i would ask your mom or siblings if you have any first if there will be a baby shower for you, this way you know what you need to get. if you are getting a shower i would go to walmart, target, or babies r us and register for it. there are alot of things you will need if your going to breast feed and bottle you will need a breast pump, and the sorage bags for your milk . if breast feeding you will need: breast pump breast cream breast pads brest milk baggies if bottle feeding you wont need the above stuff but you will need bottles extra nipples bottle brush if you are 20 weeks now i am assuming you will be due in the middle of June wich is great for you. in the summer babies dont wear as much as they would in the winter so then your list of immediate things lessens. must haves onesies 0-3 months and 3-6 months diapers wipes a and d ointment mylicon- this is for gas, i had a daughter who was colic and this helped always good to have socks burp cloths recieveing blankets play and sleep clothes- they sell these things wihch they are footed pjs they look like but you can keep your baby in them all day long and then just change her at night. they are nice for when the weather is cooler or if you have AC. mittens- these are great to cover up their hands so they dont scratch their faces nail clippers baby wahs baby lotion pacifier- if you chose to use one boppy- these were nice, there is one that is sold at walmart and it has a little holder for when she gets older and you sit her up to look at the tv it keeps her safe in there sleep positioner car seat stroller- they can be sold as a set the stroller and seat together bassinet or a cradle crib bassinet sheet always have two incase she messes one you have an extra crib sheet crib mattress some baby toys- rattles teethers-which you may not need until she is three months old a baby swing, but that is not a need, baby wash cloths- 1 dollar at walmart baby bag baby blankets to play with her on the floor for tummy time and to cover her when she is cold my first was born in the summer and i mostly kept her in the long sleeve shirt they give her at the hospital where there are covers at the end of the sleeves to cover her hands. you can buy these as well. I got mine at babies r us. also, if formula feeding i wouldnt get the formula until after she is born because she could have an allergic reaction to the formula and then your our of the formula you got. the hospital usually gives you some to get you through the first few days. When your in the hospital, take all the extras. they do help.also search the internet, you can get free samples of stuff as well. and by the way my spell checker wasnt working so sorry for the mispelled words haha i hope this helps and good luck to you |

Don 't buy anything. I 'm sure your friends or family will throw you a shower. |

Get all of the basic things you will need and basic clothes- (such as onesies, mitts, bootie socks, sleepers.) Don 't assume that people are going to throw a baby shower just in case they don 't Make sure you get a car seat! (Very Important, if you don 't have a car seat you can 't take the baby home from the hospital.) I would make that purchase as soon as possible. Get Diapers! Don 't get many newborn sized since she won 't be that small for long. Get mostly sizes 1 and 2 's Just make sure you have the basic things that you need first and then when it gets closer get more of the clothes and stuff. If you have a baby shower you can register for things too. (later on) |

I would hold off on buying gender specific items.Sonograms are not always 100% accurate (knew somebody who had three all said she was having a girl and it turned out ot be a boy!) I would STOCK up on diapers! you can never have too many diapers.Baby wipes.Baby bath.Bottles. |
