Question: I want to buy baby items but i'm not sure what size/age combos are. help please?

For example. Some strollers/ carseats/ playpens/ change tables say Up to 15 lbs - What age is a baby 15 pounds? When some are born at like 11! It can& #039;t be that long can it? 22 lbs - What age? 40 lbs - What age? I know weight varies and depends all the time. But for a very healthy and growing baby what are the averages of these weights for ages? I plan to order from Sears pretty soon and would like to know what items would last me and for how long. Thanks! I& #039;m expecting in August |

I 'd say 15 lbs is an average 3-6 month old. that 's a tricky age because they aren 't moving yet. my son was 16 lbs at 6 months and he 's always been skinny so I wouldn 't expect to use anything that was labeled up to 15 lbs for more than 4-6 months. my son is 16 months and is only about 21 lbs but again, he 's skinny -- the average baby probably hits that between 9-12 months. I 've seen people say their 4 month olds are 22 lbs though, while I don 't expect mine to hit that until 18 months or so. I 'd say a year is average though. 40 lbs -- maybe 3 or 4. |

It still varies for a healthy and growing baby. My daughter didn 't hit 15 pounds til she was a year old, but she 's healthy. My friend 's daughter hit 15 pounds at 3 months, she is also healthy. Don 't worry about car seats, regardless of weight, your child won 't switch to a convertible car seat til AT LEAST 1 year old. Most strollers will hold toddlers, most playpens and changing tables will hold 1-2 year olds. |

My son is 7 months and he weighs 23 lbs, he is quite big for his age, as my daughter weights about 17 lbs and she is also 7 months. You are right weight does vary greatly among babies. I think 22 lbs is closer to 10-12 months and 40 lbs would be like a 3 or 4 year old. |

My son is a year this week and he weighs 18 pounds. Usually babies weight around 20-22 pounds at a year of age. My son is very small and is the 5th percentile. I know a 6 month old baby that weighs 17 pounds. So really it does very greatly, but I 'd say on average a baby reaches 15 pounds at about 8 months or so, 22 pounds around a year, and 40 pounds I have no clue, but probably about 4 years if I had to guess. Yes, some babies are born large. My sister has had three babies over 9 pounds. lol A lot of babies (especially breastfed babies) grow very much in the early months (like the first three or four) gaining about two or three pounds a month. But then after a few months, their weight usually starts to level off. For example, my son started off the first few months of life more in the 40-60th percentile. Then at 6 months he dropped to a bout 20%, and now like I said about 5%. For strollers, I 'd get one that holds about 40 pounds. I got the stroller that can put the infant carrier carseat in it if I want, or put him straight in. Even though my son is very small, I found he outgrew the infant carrier quite early. Mine is supposed to hold up to 22 pounds but at about 15 pounds he really didn 't fit anymore, and we got a larger convertible car seat. Plus its just a pain to bring the infant carrier in, especially once they can sit up and/ or crawl. My son never liked being confined so playpens weren 't a concern for me, and EVERYONE I knew told me not to waste my money on changing tables. You 'll be changing your baby where ever, whenever. Bed, crib, table, couch, floor, etc. |
