Question about baby socks?

Question: Question about baby socks?

(Posted by: Betwixt and Between on 2008-02-24 09:27:57)

Was anyone actually able to keep these things on their newborn& #039;s feet? I was going through baby stuff last night, and realized I bought/ recieved TONS of newborn socks, and there& #039;s just no point in them. They slip right off, and get lost in the sleeper/ jumper. Any sugestions for OTHER uses for baby socks? I have about a thousand pairs. They& #039;re awful cute; it& #039;d be fun to do something with them.

Please, please, please never put socks on a baby while they sleep. Even loose socks can cause pressure points and lead to scarring. It happened to me and it happened to my cousin. I used to have a blog post about it online (which I must get up again) and I met several other moms with the same problem. With my son these were brand new socks that I bought to be a bit big. You can use them as scratch mitts. Heavier ones can be used as mittens for cold weather. If you sew you could make a cute quilt with one sock per square?

I know what you mean!! I use tights and put the socks over the tights and they stay on but thats when I go out and most of time she is in pants so I am stuck with the socks falling off. Someone gave me socks and fir perfectly but I can 't find them again and she had grown them... :-(. Sometimes if she is wearing fitted pants then I will put the pants over the socks to make them stay one. She might look somewhat goofy but she needs to stay warm...lol. Edit: I re read your question, I am sorry I didn 't see the creative or other uses for socks, I am sorry. I guess my brain is still not fully awake.

The baby will grow into them. It was the same thing with my daughter and just a few months later I can 't believe how small some of her socks are that don 't fit her.

No suggestions but if you live in england, go to clemmy 's, they sell baby socks that actually fit lol, it was the only place i could get my daughters from :)

We made potpouri sachets out of my son 's old baby socks. They 're just about the perfect size and you can put them in drawers or pockets of clothing hanging in the closet. You can even put them under a pillow to keep a nice scent for when you go to bed.

I could never keep them on my daughter either. I used them (when she was younger and couldn 't get them off) on her hands so she wouldn 't scratch her face.

I had the same problem, so I started buying some that would go about half way up instead of the ankle. Another use for them, unless you already have some, is "sock mittens " to help keep baby from scratching his/ her face.

Wow, my son used them lots! Well, we didn 't use them when he wore sleepers, lol. Here are some ideas - google.ca/ search?q= crafts+ with+ baby+ socks &ie= utf-8 &oe= utf-8 &aq= t &rls= org.mozilla:en-US:official &client= firefox-a

It was a trail and error thing for us. Some brands actually do stay on! I dont know what else you could do with them. give them to someone else who has a baby lol

If the sleeper has feet, you don 't need socks. I tried several different kinds and the one that stays on my son 's feet are from Walmart (Hanes), with high ankles.

I use baby legs - they are these really cute leg warmers for babies in lots of fun patterns. Put them on over the socks. You can get them on line.

My mother gave us a couple of boxes of 'Trumpettes ' -- see trumpette.com/ -- gorgeous! and not prone to staying on at all. The solution turned out to be two pairs at once. You must have some that are a bit small and on the thin side? Put them on first. The double-socking is also useful if you have a carrier from which the feet stick out...
