What size baby socks do i need?

Question: What size baby socks do i need?

(Posted by: van4ssa on 2009-03-12 00:51:15)

I am purchasing socks for a newborn, but am confused by the different sizes. The socks marked & quot;Newborn& quot; looked exactly the same as the socks marked & quot;0- 6 Months& quot;. Is it a necessity for me to purchase the newborn size, or can I get away with buying the 0- 6 size, and have the baby grow into them?

It is always better to buy the bigger size. Go with the 0-6 months. Trust me, the baby will grow out of them within 3 mos. I don 't know who dictates these "sizes ", but they are ALWAYS way off. The newborn size must be for premies or something... My niece is 3 1/ 2 mos. right now and has already grown out of her 6 mo. clothes. It is an accepted pathology that when buying clothes for a child, always go one size above. I think manufacturers of baby clothes rely on that thinking as well when designating and designing that stuff. Hope this helps!

There is no need to purchase newborn socks as they are more likely to fall off of your child with very little movement since they don not go very far up the leg. Socks sized 0-6 month may seem like they are the same size but they actually go higher up on the leg and do stay on much better. Also, it is more economical to buy 0-6 months size socks since your child will outgrow the newborn socks very quickly. Hope this helps!
