My baby toilet training? help!?

Question: My baby toilet training? help!?

(Posted by: #1 Girl -She's Bittersweet- on 2006-07-20 20:34:48)

My baby is 19 months old. she refuse to sit on her potty. everytime i try to sit her on her potty, she is like freaking out. i bought a toilet trainng seat to be placed on our toilet seat. stil she refuse to sit. she pees all over the house. after she pees, she cries out loud and she seems scared of stepping on her pee all over the floor. she can learn anything fast and understand things quickly but why can& #039;t she ever learn to express when she is about to pee? what can i do to train her. i am clueless. anyone help me pls!

Your baby is probaby too young to start potty training. Her reactions are telling you this. Dont force potty training, it will only get worse. Most children arent fully ready for potty training, until they are 3 or so. Let her approach potty training when shes ready. Keep the potty chair out for her to look at, explore, play with,(empty of course). Let her sit on it with out actually having her use it to pee. Eventually she will get the idea of potty training, especially if you dont freak out about her using the potty chair. Let her use her dolls or babys, in pretend play in using the potty chair. Maybe she feels the toilet seat is too large, she may be afraid of falling in the toilet. Buy a potty chair, just for a childs use, scaled to her size. Maybe she wont feel so intimidated by the small size. Let her approach the potty chair on her own terms and as she gets older and her language skills develop, she will learn to let you know by body language, i.e grabbing at her "peepee ", dancing around like she has to pee, approaching you immediately after shes wet her diaper wanting to be changed. But at 19 mos, its too much to expect a baby to tell you that she wants to go potty. It has nothing to do with her intelligence level, shes just not old enough to be trained!

Wait until she 's 3 and she 'll get it in like two days! She is way to young to even attempt this stuff! Of course you 're not seeing progress!

19 months old is pretty early to start, she 's not ready yet. If you relax, she 'll get it. My oldest daughter was 2 when she was potty trained, my youngest well, she stubborn she 'll be 3 in Sept and she hold her pee for up to 5 hours, as soon as I put on a diaper, she pees. I don 't pressure her though, she come around eventually.

19 months may be a little young to start. She seems to be scared of the feeling she feels when she sits naked on the toilet. My daughter did the same and it took 4 different attempts starting at 2 and finally sucessful 2 months b4 she was three. But every child is different. My son is currently being potty trained and he will not be two for 2 more months. You can 't push them into it just try from time to time until she is comfortable with it.

Ive got a two year old boy. its not easy, im actually just starting to potty train. yeah i think you should wait a while before you try potty training your daughter. she doesnt realize what the potty is for. you have to wait till she is older, then she will think it is like a game :)

It 's too early ! Wait till she 's about 2 1/ 2 - 3. There 's no rush. Don 't worry about the stories of other children learning earlier than that. 2 1/ 2 is VERY normal. I did the same thing with my first daughter and she ended up wetting her bed till she was ten. And with my other daughters I waited and they never had that problem. But if you still wish to try now try pull ups. Good Luck!

19 months is too early to start, it really takes time and u really have to worry if she does the same even after her 2 and half years...it really takes one or two days to pick up the habit, not more than that once she knows that she have to.

I have two kids. Both were potty trained at two years old. When I trained my son I told him to stand there, point toward the water, and make bubbles. He thought this was fun. My daughter was harder. She refused to use the "big " potty. So I bought her a little one. At first she didn 't want anything to do with it. So when she had to go I took her in the bathroom, sat her down on it, and told her to listen. I made it a game...listen very carefully and you can hear it come out. So she did. She will be three in August and I just bought her the Dora potty seat to put on the "big " potty. She will go sometimes but is more comfortable with the little potty. My advice is to not push it. Take your time and be patient. If you try to push her to go she will fight back. She will go when she is ready.

She isn 't too young to attempt this.. I was potty trained when I was 18 months old... however, she isnt ready.. Buy her a potty chair that doesn 't sit on your toilet seat.. the portable kind.. and stick it in what ever room you guys spend the most time.. she will see that it isnt scary. When you go to the store, take her to look at the "pretty big girl panties ". My mom always tells people that I wanted them so bad that I refused to wear a diaper and started using the potty chair so I could wear them. Please put your daughter in a pull up.. if she decides she wants to go potty you can do it quick, but you are scaring her if she cries every time she pees in the house.. and its quite a mess to clean up.

19 mths is a bit too... early. I train my gal when she was 2 yrs + . I just put her potty in 1 corner near the toilet and tell her she has no more pampers (remember to keep all the pampers out of sight) and she has to pee in this potty. Results... had a few accidents 1st few days because I refuse to let her wear pampers only her panty on but subsequently she knows I mean business and she just pull down her panty and start peeing in the potty. Just be patient. Good Luck

19 months is still a little young I 'd keep the potty available, but wait awhile to try things again.

I have a potty training method that was given to me and it works.. You have to stick by it. I potty trained my Daughter when she was 20 months. And she does great. She still as accidents all kids do that. When she has an accident don 't over reacted just clean her up. If you give me your email address i will send it to you.
