Question: 4day old baby, toilet habits ?
(Posted by: rach_el66 on 2011-02-06 15:23:32)
Hiya ladies, just wondering how many times my 4day old should have been number 2? My 1st baby was in special care for the first few days so not really got much to go by, is there anything I can do to help her go as she seems to be struggling. |

A newborn can have as many as eight to ten bowel movements a day, but as long as she is having at least one, she 's probably all right. My son is now 3 months, but when he was younger he would only have about 2 a day. every baby is different, but if you feel your baby is going to much or not enough its always good to contact his doctor. |

At least twice a day, but depending on what she 's eating (breast milk or formula) things could differ. If you 're using formula you may need to change brands. If you 're concerned, call your pediatrician. |

When you are breastfeeding, a baby 4 days old and older should have 4 or more stools and the spots should be American quarter sized or larger. because it can be more difficult for babies to eliminate with formula, it may be fewer in the beginning, but small, infrequent stools usually mean the baby is not getting enough to eat. |

I have a 3 day old today:) Nurse said that he should have 3 wet, 3 dry. Tomorrow at 4 days should be 4 wet, 4 dry. Increasing one of each until 7 days. After that I don 't remember what she said... |
