Most injuries as a baby are related to baby walkers. plus they don 't help them learn to walk |

I think providing baby can support his / her own head you will be fine, we started using ours at around 5 months ( a Christmas present) and our daughter loves it. |

Walkers aren 't allowed to be sold in some places because they are one of the most dangerous infant toys on the market. |

I put all 4 of my daughters in a walker younger than 6 months of age. as soon as they were able to sit up for at least 20 minutes is when i did it. i truly believe that it enabled my girls to develop strong muscles in turn enabled them to walk earlier. but if you feel your child is ready try it out for about a week or so and see how he/ she takes to it. trust me you will figure it out. |

My baby is 5 months old now and we just got her a walker the other day, she loves it! Just try out the walkers on display in the shops with your baby.. if he/ she can touch the floor with their feet in the walker and can hold their heads up just fine then they can use it no worries at all:) As for possible "accidents " with walkers that is only if parents are not responsible. Never let your baby out of sight if they are in a walker and never have a walker in a room where there is access to stairs, make sure stairs are blocked off with baby gates or something to that effect or choose another room. [Addition] Baby Walkers Googled! Should you buy a baby walker? Sara writes: "I thought walkers weren 't safe. If that 's the case, why are they still on the market? " It 's true that walkers are a major safety hazard--or were until 1997 when walker safety standards were improved to protect against stairway falls (a leading cause of walker-related injuries). According to this standard, walkers must either have a bottom friction strip to stop the walker if its wheels drop over the edge of a step, or be too wide to fit through a 36-inch-wide doorway. Walker-related incidents have declined since the 1997 standard was introduced. In 2003 (the latest available government data), the number of injuries from walkers to children younger than 15 months was 3,200, an 88 percent reduction since 1992. Some of this reduction may be the result of stationary activity centers supplanting wheeled walkers as the product of choice. Still, even with friction strips, we think 3,200 injuries are too many, and don 't consider conventional walkers to be 100 percent safe. Canada has banned the sale of walkers completely. My take on this is if you are responsible with your baby in a walker you will not have injuries especially the stairs injuries! You must be responsible with a baby in a walker but that doesnt mean you shouldn 't get one. |

When they have good head control you can put your baby in one. and dont listen to all the nonsense about how "dangerous " they are!! that is so ridiculous. provided you watch your baby like you should and dont let the walker be a "babysitter "-just like with any other toys- than they are perfectly fine and tons of fun for your baby. |

If yourbaby can hold their head up, and their legs can reach the floor while they are in it theyre old enough. really they can go in in as long as they can hold their head up. but their legs get a little uncomfortable just hanging there i think. plus it builds the strength in their legs, so yes it does help them learn to eventually walk. |

So long as baby has the strength to be upright in the walker. personally i am against walkers and believe they hinder walking, balance, spacial awareness and co-ordinations skills while heightening the likelihood of accident and injury. |

You cannot buy them in Canada which is because some idiots let there kid go down the stairs in them! they are safe as long as you watch your child in them not leave gates open! in other words common sense! i am Canadian and i have one! which you can still pass them onto people in Canada you just are not supposed to pay for them! |

I don 't like them to be honest children have been hurt in them. The baby needs to be able to support its self before you put it in a baby walker. I also think its nicer to let your baby walk when nature intends it to. Best Wishes Natalie |
