Question: Is my 9 month old ready for a baby walker?
(Posted by: *Nikki* on 2010-06-06 12:34:03)
My 9month old can now stand holding just one of my hands, if she is holding both of my hands she can walk, is she read for a push baby walker? and also... why is it she is so strong on her feet, but is making no effort to get on all fours? |

Some babies skip crawling alltogether. It 's normal. She might just take off walking one day. A push toy will be great for her to "walk " and hold on too. |

You should research walkers. My sons pediatrician and many others I found don "t advise using walkers. There have been many injuries to children from walkers reported. So Just do your research. I used a stationary activity center at my house but my in laws bought my son one for when hes there and he did love it but here is how we used it to make sure no injuries occurred: Use it it in a wide open area where she can 't run into anything and nothing can fall over on her. And don 't take your eyes off her. Many parents end up using a walker as a chance to take a break. I personally would be more alert on attentive when using a walker. |

Baby walkers can be used from the time baby can sit up on their own. We just ordered one from Amazon for my 6 month old, it should be arriving soon. There are a few areas of controversy with walkers: Safety in general. If you skimp and buy a cheaper model, baby is more likely to hurt them self in a collision with a wall, or accidentally roll onto stairs or something of the like. The better more expensive models have more safety features, like anti-skid pads and more shock absorbency. Also, watch baby carefully as you would in any situation. Some doctors suggest that walkers and exersaucers can lead to bow-leggedness. It is common sense not to have baby in any toy for a huge amount of time every day. This is the walker we ordered as it had good reviews: amazon.com/ gp/ product/ B001OD8X4W/ ref= oss_product Also, some babies never crawl, just go straight to walking. My daughter 's father was one of these babies. Some babies will also do an 'army crawl ' on their bellies until they learn to walk. |

Ye if she will walk holding on to your hand or something. Some babies skip crawling and go straight to walking, some start walking then crawling. My brother started walking at 8 months then started crawling around 11 months. So it varies with each baby. |

Walker have been proved to slow down their development , my daughter walked at 11 months and she never used a walker |

She may be its worth a try it will help her build the strength and muscles to stand alone and eventually walk with it. some babies just dont crawl, we didnt think my daughter would crawl as she was more interested in trying to walk but she did in the end for a little while so she may surprise you and have a go soon, shell learn in her own pace dont worry they catch on quick, from the stage of my daughter standing alone to then holding something and walking was very short to when she was walking alone. |
