Is it weird that i'm interested in wearing a baby wrap and my wife isn't?

Question: Is it weird that i'm interested in wearing a baby wrap and my wife isn't?

I've done lots of research and got lots of opinions about wraps. They seem more natural, provide closer contact with babies, women can breastfeed in them, and them seem more comfortable than the "backpack " carriers like Baby Bjorn. My wife is dead set on a Baby Bjorn because she wore it once with one of her older nieces. I've heard that they may not be so good because of the pressure they can put on a baby's crotch area. I keep telling her that we can get both to try each one, but she doesn't want to spend the money on a wrap.

I kind of felt like you... I loved the idea of the wraps but couldn't afford them... and the baby bjorn just looked so uncomfortable. I ended up buying a sling. It's made of this breathable mesh fabric and you can still breastfeed in it! I Love it!

It's not weird that you are taking an active role in researching what's best for your baby. I agree that a wrap is more practical when your baby is small. Ultimately though, I guess whoever will be carrying the baby the most should be making that decision. Have you brought your wife to store where she can try a wrap? Or, you could try to buy used from Craigslist if she doesn't want to spend a lot..... Good luck!

No it's not weird. That's nice that you have looked into it and you want to be close to your little one. I agree that the wrap is a better way to do. We had the Bjorn at first but as my baby grew it caused me a lot of shoulder pain (many months ago and she's still just over 20 lbs. now). I would never buy a Bjorn if I had it to do over. A wrap and an Ergo would be my choice.

It's not weird at all, and the fact that you are an involved dad, that makes you really cool. Kudos for being real man.
