Do protein drinks/bars help with weight loss?

Question: Do protein drinks/bars help with weight loss?

(Posted by: LM on 2010-03-13 10:51:11)

I'm trying to lose weight and make exercise a part of my daily routine. I've noticed that a lot of what I read says to make protein shakes, but how exactly do they help? I know that protein helps to make you feel fuller longer, but what are the other benefits?

I am know eating the special k protein meal bars to help with weight loss and they work. I feel full for longer and they also have few calories. They also have more of the nutrients than some other foods you may eat. I have not tried any of the shakes or such, but I know the bars are pretty good.

They are used for things like that sure but also used to help repair muscle after a hard workout try to understand that this will not make you lose that weight but if you workout, drink shakes, and eat right you will be closer to your goal but all of these things together will do it

Yes, they do promote weight loss because they cause your body to burn off fat. It raises your metabolism because it is A LOT harder to break down proteins than carbs or fats. Therefore, your body has to work harder. You burn more calories this way. Protein also is great for building more muscle that you could use to raise your metabolism and stop the yo-yo dieting of going back and forth. Here 's one of my favorite protein shake recipes since you are just beginning to delve into the arena of protein shakes. I suggest you to make your own since you know what 's inside of it. The key is not to eat a complete diet of shakes, but good balanced meals like the shake below. It contains the right amount of carbs, proteins, and fats. Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake 1 tablespoon of vanilla whey protein powder 1/ 2 cup of pumpkin (canned or cooked fresh) 1 tablespoon of peanut butter 1 scoop of low fat butter pecan ice cream 1/ 2 cup of lowfat milk pinch of cinnamon 3 ice cubes
