Question: I have a weight loss dilemma, can anybody help?

I am 14, and around 5'4-5'5. My weight is 160 pounds, give or take a few. I need to lose weight, I know... I just don't know how to get kick started. I am not completely unhappy with my weight, as I do not look large except for my legs. My ideal weight is 125 pounds. This means a weight loss of around 35-40 pounds (or 2 and a half stone). I want to lose the weight in a healthy way, but as quickly as possible - and also, if anybody has any ways of making my legs slimmer or more toned. Help?! |

Since you are a teen, you need to make sure you eat enough calories to allow yourself to grow. For your height weight and age, if you eat 2100 calories a day, you would stay the same weight. I would say you could safely stay healthy and lose weight at eating 1500 calories a day. Try eating only whole wheat breads, plenty of fruit, small portions of lean meat, and tons of veggies, try to stay away from pastas, they are loaded with calories and really give you no nutrition. Example of a healthy menu for the day for you Breakfast English Muffin w/ egg slice of cheese and piece of meat Snack, peice of fruit Lunch Whole wheat bread, turkey, cheese, light mayo small salad snack a few pretzel rods Dinner small piece of chicken, steamed veggies, rice snack before bed, half a cup of ice cream or 2 cookies |

Make your goal 30 pounds, being 130 isn 't bad. So, just buy lower calorie icecream. Or eat frozen yogurt (Actually freeze it yourself!!) there are a lot of healthier options out there, you just have to look for them.. And run a mile 6 times a week! |
