Question: Swimming, not that good for weight loss?

In general, the best exercises for weight loss are those that are weight-bearing, such as walking or jogging. Up to 30 per cent less energy is used in activities such as swimming or cycling, which support weight and can be carried out at a more leisurely pace. Because fat floats, an obese individual is likely to use relatively less energy while swimming, particularly if that person is an experienced swimmer. This does not negate the benefits of swimming as an exercise but reduces its relative effectiveness for fat loss compared with walking. Bottom Line: Obviously an experienced swimmer with a good routine will burn more calories swimming, than walking. However even if Michael Phelps does a 2 hour swimming routine a max effort and Michael Jordan(or some other elite athlete) does ground cardio training at a max intensity, The ground athlete will burn more calories, hands down. You flat out have to move more in water to achieve the same calorie burning you do walking. Do you agree? |

What a load of codswallop. Swimming uses every muscle in your body. I 'm 66 and been training for over 50 years. I use swimming as well as weights and walking to keep fit and healthy. Have you ever seen any fat swimming athletes? Have you seen any fat body builders? Yeah right. It 's what you put in your mouth that determines the amount of fat your body holds and how healthy or fit you are. |

Swimming is amazing for weight loss, it works almost every muscle, and does not build bulky ugly muscle, more lean ones, the important thing in order to looses as much weight as possible is to change up your work out, like everything when you do the same sport every day your muscles got used to it not making the work out as effective as possible, by changing it up you will see definite results :) good luck. |

Swimming it Is very good for lose weight , but is not easy… you have to working hard, not just play in the water , and you will see the different …. |
