Wellbutrin and weight loss?

Question: Wellbutrin and weight loss?

I have been depressed for a while now and have tried everything to get out of it. Before I went to the doctor for help i joined a gym and started lifting weights 4 and 5 days a week.I also quit smoking. I have been depressed in the past and exercise helped before. In a little over six weeks I have put on about 15 lbs of muscle and physically I feel much better. Unfortunately though it didn't help the depression much at all. So I went to the doctor and he prescribed me wellbutrin sr (bupropion). It's only been a couple days and I do feel a little better. I have more energy for sure. The only thing I am worried about though is the weight loss as a side effect. I have always been thin and honestly for the first time in my life I am making really good gains in the gym and don't want to lose all the progress I have made because of this drug. Is the weight loss side effect just due to giving people that are maybe a little overweight and lethargic, depressed more energy and therefore burn more calories, and lose weight? Or does it have some reaction in the body/brain that makes you burn muscle or whatever?

The weight loss is mostly due to the fact that the depression has lifted so they are not sleep or eating as much as they were before. Just make sure you eat more protein and keep going to the gym.
