Question: How do i stop a weight loss plateau?
(Posted by: nicole. on 2010-03-13 12:38:09)
Well i recently moved, and my lifestyle has changed a lot. i used to walk everywhere, 24/7 it was my means of transportation. but now where i live, everything is spread out so i'm not walking as much as i used to.. which really used to amplify my weight loss. i eat yogurt, granola, and soy milk for breakfast. then for lunch i have chopped fruit which consists of 1 apple, 2 bananas, and about a cup and a half of strawberries and a fiber one bar. then for dinner i have grilled chicken, onions, and peppers sauteed with white rice. sometimes i'll have bread and butter, and i drink skim milk. no dessert either. then for a workout i do 30 sit ups, 30 crunches, and 30 push ups and a bunch of stretching. i also will go and do a mile on the treadmill when i get home from school, going at a speed of 3.5 and @ an incline of 8.5 then after dinner walk for 30 mins at a 2.5 speed. i work out every day, but every other day i do the 2 times a day thing. yet i go on the scale and see no results? i've been dieting since august, and i've lost just about 30 pounds. but now i gain weight when i deviate off my diet even the slightest bit. then when i dont, i just stay the same. is it something i'm doing? should i see my doctor? should i start doing weight watchers or jenny craig? or should i cut out the push ups and all the things that are building muscle? any advice is good advice, thank you so much |

First of all, congrats on the 30 pounds...I really admire you :D Im not a weight loss expert or anything (in fact, Im also stuck at a plateau myself), but if I were you and I could change something, I would add in more cardio... it seems like you only run for one mile, at a relatively slow speed (try 4.5+ , if you can), which might not be enough. I dont think your problem is what you eat (although, if you are eating the SAME food every day, you should try something new yet still healthy), but you should up your cardio a bit. You might also want to try some light weight training instead of the static sit ups and pushups...maybe you 're getting bored of them, and are slacking a bit. The most important thing is to keep yourself interested through variety, so that you dont lose motivation and can push through this plateau. Good luck! |
