Question: Taking glucophage for weight loss?

I'm very overweight (obese would be the technical term). I'm 5'4" and 194 lbs and I'm 22... this is the heaviest I have ever been (the most I ever weighed before this was 152 lbs... my normal weight is 110-125lbs) I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid earlier this year, but that has since been corrected with Synthroid. My doctor prescribed me Glucophage a couple of days ago to help me get a head start, since the extra weight I am carrying is making exercise more difficult and raising my heart rate (resting heart rate is in the mid to upper 90's and I can top out at 183 when at a slight jog). I was wondering what kind of side effects I can expect, how long it will take to work, and any other tips regarding the medication would be helpful. P.S. Also, I have been watching what I eat, exercising 3x a week as of right now (it would be more often if not for my heart rate), calories have been cut, and I am eating healthy foods (fast food has been cut out completely, and carry-out has been 95% eliminated). This has been prescribed ONLY for a short period to give me a kick-start on my weight loss before I have any serious complications from the weight. So please, no comments regarding laziness bc I am choosing to take these at the recommendation of my physician... I am taking an active role in getting my weight down, and I value my long-term health and would rather deal with a few tolerable side-effects for a couple of months if it helps me get to the point that I can simply watch what I eat and exercise without difficulty. I'm not trying to take an easy out. Thanks! |

When you lose weight too quickly for a few days your body thinks it is threatened with starvation and goes into survival mode.Never skip a meal, weight loss is a slow process so try to loose 1 pound a week...its a gud target make a diet plan and stick to it. give yourself a break from dieting once in a week. eat k oatmeal flakes, apples, granola bar and whatever is rich in fibre try to drink two cups of green tea in a day eat 4 meals everyday 1 meal : oatmeal 2 meal :fruits 3 meal : anything u like 4 meal oatmeal/ flakes or kala chana. dont eat after 7 pm and before every meal drink a glass of water. and a glass of water half n hour after every meal. try this meal for 15 days....u ll loose about 2-3 pounds. all d best more : easyweightloose.blogspot.com/ |

Amber, Dear, it 's your diet and your habits. You see, If you really want to transform your physique and your health forever, you must change your lifestyle, change your habit. And all that starts in your own mind . You can see people who are thin for life. What kind of life they do? In fact, if you think about it, all the people i know personally who has a great way of life ( health & love ),i realice that is a mindset that they have, and that mindset carry a fitness habit and allow them to live the health that they want. I found the website that really help me when i was fat. I know that will work for you as well. Kisses and love! Agnes |
